This poem has a rhyme scheme of A,B,C,B.
In stanza one there is external rhyme with gone and on and in stanza two there is external rhyme with fine and shine. The third stanza has external rhyme with fall and all, while the fourth has external rhyme with thrill and will. The final stanza has external rhyme with fame and name.
In the first stanza there is consonance with soaring and falling. There is consonance in the second stanza with the words dogs, days, and, and also kid. In the same stanza there is consonance with keys, cities, kingdoms, crowns, star, and shine. In stanza three there is consonance with fly, forever, and fall.
The first stanza has assonance with soaring and falling and with gone and on. The second stanza has assonance with fine and shine, while the third stanza has fall and all. In the fourth stanza there is assonance with thrill and will. The last stanza has assonance with fame and name.
There is alliteration in stanza two with star to shine. In stanza three there is alliteration with fly forever.
There is pause in nearly every stanza because of all the punctuation.
To me this poem means that poeple will always know who you are even if your not the center of attention all the time.
Falling Star by Elena Arredondo
Well, here you are- you're at the end
The joyride's done and gone
You can't keep soaring, falling star
The music won't go on
They say that all dogs have thier days
And, kid, you made your's fine!
The keys to cities, kingdoms' crowns
The brightest star to shine!
You thought that you could fly forever
You weren't prepared to fall
The landing took you by surprise
And now you've lost it all.
Did you like the spotlight, kid?
Did you like the thrill?
You're scared you won't remember it
But I- I think I will.
As time goes on and life goes by
You'll revel in past fame,
And smile as you take that last breath:
They'll always know your name!
